Biography

This eight-piece soul/funk band were formed in New York. Known as Skyy in the UK, they were led by Randy Muller, the guiding light behind disco group Brass Construction. The other members were Anibal Anthony (guitar), Gerald Le Bon (bass), Tommy McConnel (drums), Larry Greenberg (keyboards), Denise Dunning-Crawford (vocals), Delores Dunning-Milligan (vocals) and Bonnie Dunning (vocals). They gained an underground cult following and reached the US Top 30 in 1982 with the R&B chart-topper ‘Call Me’. They also reached the lower regions of the UK chart the same year with the exuberant ‘Let’s Celebrate’. Always a favourite on the dance/soul charts, Skyy had limited success in crossing over to the mainstream charts after this, although they did reach the US Top 50 in 1990 with ‘Real Love’ (another R&B chart-topper).
