Biography
1959, Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies. From her upbringing in outright poverty in Denham Town Ghetto, Sister Carol has emerged as a new star of US dancehall. She met her mentor, Brigadier Jerry, at the age of 20, and he inspired her to try the DJ style rather than straight singing. However, she emigrated to Brooklyn, New York, in the late 70s, feeling disaffected by the punany or slackness that had overtaken traditional roots reggae concerns. In America her musical pursuits ran in parallel with a film career, which was initiated when she was spotted duetting with Judy Mowatt on Screwface. This won her a featured role in Something Wild, followed by Married To The Mob.
