1972, Norway. At the age of 16 Nergaard appeared in an impromptu performance at the Molde International Jazz Festival, attracting attention that was to help launch her career. Singing mainly pop, she recorded her first album in 1990. Tell Me Where You’re Going was very popular, especially in Japan, and the title track, issued as her debut single, spent 15 weeks in the UK Top 100. Her follow-up albums were also pop, with Cow On The Highway having a strong country music slant. She followed these English-language successes with two native language albums, again blending pop with country and tinges of jazz. Also in the late 90s, her songwriting gained attention with ‘I Don’t Want To See You Cry’ receiving an Honourable Mention Award in the USA Songwriter Competition and ‘On And On’ being used in a Korean movie, Interview. Since then her songs have been recorded by several other artists.
