Biography
16 October 1984, Manchester, England. Vocalist Ward enjoyed his moment in the pop spotlight as the winner of the second series of the hugely popular UK reality television show, The X Factor. The son of Irish immigrants, Ward was raised as part of a large and troubled family in Manchester in the north of England. Seeking an escape route from a life of petty crime he entered several talent shows, enjoying some success on Popstars: The Rivals, before making the final stages of the 2005 series of The X Factor. Wards conventional good looks and pleasant pop voice had seen him tagged as favourite from the early stages of the show, and he duly defeated Andy Abraham and duo Journey South in the final. His debut single, the anodyne power ballad Thats My Goal, reached the Christmas number 1 slot at the end of 2005.
