Biography
A native of Wichita, Kansas, Shawn Lee nurtured an interest in 1970s blaxploitation funk from an early age. Developing his song-writing skills in L.A. in the early '90s, Shawn relocated to London in 1995 where, after a stillborn deal with Gilles Petersons Talkin Loud label, he signed with Wall Of Sound, releasing the LP MONKEY BOY in 2000. Shawn also recorded a series of instrumentals for Ubiquity as Shawn Lees Ping Pong Orchestra and his music has appeared in numerous films and TV shows. In 2006, he scored the Rockstar videogame BULLY. A balanced blend of jazz, funk, and soul, Shawns unique pop sound has inspired comparisons to prolific Argentine composer Lalo Schifrin.
