Experimental but accessible, USA unit Sex Mob has found a mainstream audience owing to television appearances on Saturday Night Live and on the MTV channel, and also on National Public Radio. Formed in the mid-90s by slide trumpeter Steven Bernstein (Steven Michael Bernstein, 8 October 1961, Washington, DC, USA), the quartet also included Briggan Krauss (saxophones), Tony Scherr (bass) and Kenny Wollesen (drums). Sex Mob has been well received by the specialist press, including winning DownBeat Critics Polls as Best Beyond Group and Best Acoustic Group.
