Biography
This contemporary Christian praise and worship band built up a strong following on the devotional circuit in the early years of the new millennium, and by the middle of the decade their music was starting to cross over to the mainstream charts. Brother and sister Nicol and Todd Smith, who had been singing together from childhood, formed Selah in the late 90s with their close friend, pianist Allan Hall. The groups name was taken from a Hebrew phrase meaning to lift up the voice in praise. Their 1999 debut Be Still My Soul spawned the CCM hits It Is Well With My Soul, One Thing I Know and Sweet, Sweet Song Of Salvation, and won the Inspirational Album Of The Year award at the 2000 Dove Awards.
