Biography
26 December 1980, Decatur, Georgia, USA. This New York-based soul singer began performing at an early age. Like many illustrious soul artists before him he earned his musical education in the local church choir, and was featured as a soloist at the tender age of five. He progressed to musical theatre while studying at Georgia State University and was so smitten by the lure of the boards that he left college in 1998 to appear in Tyler Perrys breakthough play, I Know Ive Been Changed. The play was based in New York, and following the end of the run Shaw stayed in the city to chance his arm as a singer. He appeared with several soul cover groups, the most notable of which was the popular Fabulous Soul Shakers. Shaw was encouraged to try out as a solo artist and was lucky when his demo caught the attention of Columbia Records, who offered the singer a contract.
