Biography
11 November 1955. Grammy?winning US Christian singer-songwriter Taff was the fourth of five sons of a Pentecostal preacher and gospel-loving mother. After relocating to Arkansas as a teenager, he formed his own group, the Sounds Of Joy, but he found wider acclaim when he joined the Imperials in 1976. Taff was instrumental in helping the famous southern gospel group modernise their sound on albums such as Sail On, but after five years with the group he left to embark on a solo career. His debut set, 1983s Walls Of Glass, featured an enduring classic, We Will Stand, but it was the highly popular follow-up, Medals, which confirmed Taff as one of the leading artists in contemporary Christian music. A self-titled set and 1989s The Way Home brought further acclaim for Taffs songwriting skills and his powerful voice.
