Biography
Los Angeles, California, USA-based punk pop band formed in the late 90s by Scott Sellers (vocals/guitar), Clark Domae (guitar/vocals), Jon Berry (bass/vocals), Mike Jimenez (drums). Coming from the suburban community of Rancho Cucamonga, the quartet formed Rufio as a means of escaping the dreariness of their surroundings. They posted a number of their demo tracks on the Internet, and the positive response prompted the quartet to begin playing local gigs. A recording contract with newly-formed label The Militia Group ensued, with the bands debut, Perhaps, I Suppose
, appearing in 2001. The quartets brand of melodic punk drew immediate comparisons to the scenes forefathers, Green Day and the Offspring, so it was no surprise when the latter outfits Dexter Holland approached Rufio with an offer to join his Nitro label. They made their debut for Nitro with a three-track self-titled EP, a precursor for the release of 2003s MCMLXXXV.
