Biography

This US rock band was formed in 1979 by the four surviving members of the 1977 Lynyrd Skynyrd plane crash; Gary Rossington (guitars), Allen Collins (guitars), Billy Powell (keyboards) and Leon Wilkeson (bass), who joined with Dale Krantz (vocals), Barry Harwood (guitars) and Derek Hess (drums). They continued in the best traditions of Skynyrd, though the female lead vocals gave them a different sound. They broke up in 1983 after just two albums. Powell later joined the Christian rock band Vision, while Collins was paralyzed from the waist down in a car accident in the mid-80s, and died of pneumonia on 23 January 1990. Krantz married Rossington and both they and Powell took their places in the Lynyrd Skynyrd reunion tour of 1987.
