Biography
Jerome Woods, 5 March 1970, Benton Harbor, Michigan, USA. In a twist to the usual trajectory of the contemporary R&B singer, Rome released a platinum-selling debut album (including a memorable cover version of Bobby Womacks Thats The Way I Feel About Cha and the hit single I Belong To You (Every Time I See Your Face)) then moved to an independent label for the follow-up. Rome began life in a Michigan soul band that relocated to Los Angeles, California, before electing to turn solo. Having achieved success with his RCA Records debut he was left stranded when a projected second album was rejected. Instead, he signed a distribution contract with Ground Level for his own label follow-up that included some of the material recorded while under contract to RCA.
