Biography
29 November 1951, Hamilton, Ohio, USA, d. 25 April 1999, Dayton, Ohio, USA. Multi-instrumentalist Troutman is best remembered for his work with early 80s funk superstars Zapp, although he enjoyed a moderately successful solo career under the Roger alias and worked as in-demand session musician and producer. His tragic death in 1999 should not be allowed to overshadow the fact that Troutman was a figure to rival George Clinton and Larry Blackmon, with musical, technical and business abilities. Troutman formed Zapp with his brothers Lester, Larry and Tony, with whom he had been working since the late 60s under the name of Roger And The Human Body. The group enjoyed a string of hit singles in the early to mid-80s, including "More Bounce To The Ounce - Part 1", "Dance The Floor (Part 1)" and "Computer Love Part 1'.
