29 July 1977, Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA. This multi-talented writer/producer had, by 1999, established himself as Americas most successful pop and R&B hitmaker, working with a wide range of artists including Mary J. Blige, Joe, Whitney Houston, Brandy, Monica, Jennifer Lopez, Toni Braxton, Destinys Child, the Spice Girls and Michael Jackson. Born and raised in New Jersey, Jerkins early musical influences included the gospel he heard in his minister fathers church and the classical piano lessons he began taking as a small child. In his early teens he began making demos with his brother Fred, using a drum machine and music sampler bought by his father. A 1991 recording of vocal group Triple Threat came to the attention of Teddy Riley, who began spreading the word about Jerkins potential.
