Biography
Texas-born singer/songwriter Rocky Votolato moved to Seattle as a teenager, and in late 1996 he started the band Waxwing (not to be confused with The Waxwings), with whom he recorded three albums. In the late '90s, Votolato started writing low-key, acoustic-oriented, country/folk-tinged tunes at odds with Waxwings' hard-edged alt-rock sound, and he released his first solo album in 1999. After several releases on the Second Nature label, he signed to Barsuk, with whom he put out his most successful album to date, 2006's MAKERS.
