Rodney Ramone Hill Jnr., 28 December 1978, Valdosta, Georgia, USA. Although he is better known as a behind-the-scenes hitmaker and the husband of R&B singer Monica, US rapper Rocko also enjoyed minor success with his 2008 solo debut. He learned his trade as a talent scout for Universal Music, and at the start of the new millennium set up the Rocky Road imprint. The production company helped place hits for Hitman Sammy Sam, Den Franchize Boyz, Young Dro, and Pastor Troy. During the mid-00s, Rocko also released two underground mixtapes that proved popular enough for him to land a recording contract with So So Def. Released at the start of 2008, Self Made was boosted by the success of the single Umma Do Me on the US rap charts, but despite the presence of A-list producers such as Jazze Pha and DJ Toomp the album proved to be a dismal collection of hip-hop clichés and tired beats.
