Biography

Rocket From The Tombs were formed in June 1974 in Cleveland, Ohio, USA. Although only active for a year, they played an integral part in the birth of punk music in the USA. The original line-up featured instigator David Thomas aka Crocus Behemoth (1953, Miami, Florida, USA, vocals), Charlie Weiner (guitar), Glen ‘Thunderhand’ Hach (guitar) and Tom Foolery (b. Tom Clements; drums). They became a featured act at the city’s Viking Saloon, where Thomas worked as a part-time bouncer. The band’s initial sub- Frank Zappa style, parodying 50s and 60s rock ‘n’ roll, changed irrevocably with the arrival of Peter Laughner (b. Peter Ravenscroft Laughner, 22 August 1952, Cleveland, Ohio, USA, d. 22 June 1977, Cleveland, Ohio, USA).
