24 November 1943, Edinburgh, Scotland. After the Incredible String Band broke up in 1974, following almost 10 years of success, multi-instrumentalist Williamson departed for Los Angeles, USA. He recorded some exquisite albums with His Merry Band, an ensemble comprising harpist Sylvia Wood, Chris Caswell and Jerry McMillan. Since the break-up of this outfit in 1979, Williamson has released a large number of recordings, many with mystical subjects. In addition to his literary projects and solo offerings, Williamson regularly tours either in a solo capacity or with a backing band. He retains a strong feel for tradition, reworking tales and songs from Celtic mythology in numerous spoken-word cassette releases. Williamson is involved in many aspects of the business, having provided soundtracks for television series, and music for theatre productions.
