Rob Aguilar, 14 May 1972, New York, USA. Raised in the borough of Queens, home to distinguished mix-ologists such as Marley Marl and Mr. Magic, Swift was exposed to DJ culture at an early age. He began DJing himself at 12, and entered his first battle at the 1991 northeast DMC finals. He took third place, but far more important than the Stanton needles which constituted his prize was the introduction the contest afforded him to first place winner Steve Dee, a founding member of the X-Men DJ crew, with which Swift soon became affiliated. He returned to the northeast finals to take first place the following year, and as the X-Men’s impressive track record on the battle circuit began to garner recording opportunities, Swift was the crew’s most prolific member in the studio.
