Biography
Richard Stephen Sambora, 11 July 1959, Perth Amboy, New Jersey, USA. The immensely talented lead guitarist with bestselling US soft rockers Bon Jovi, Sambora occasional solo forays have revealed a more eclectic approach than his work with that band. Sambora, who started his career as a session musician, recorded Stranger In This Town during a lengthy hiatus in Bon Jovis punishing schedule. This self-effacing, bluesy collection of tracks placed more emphasis on Samboras vocals than his guitar playing, with Eric Clapton even drafted in to play lead on one track (Mr. Bluesman). After playing on Bon Jovis platinum-selling mid-90s albums, Keep The Faith and These Days, Sambora took advantage of another break in band activities to record his second solo album, 1998s Don Was -produced Undiscovered Soul. Bon Jovi regrouped two years later to record their seventh album, Crush.
