Biography
1967, San Francisco, California, USA. An earnest country/folk singer-songwriter in the tradition of Guy Clark or Townes Van Zandt, Buckner first began playing music during his college years in Chico, California. He was a member of several punk and alternative bands during the 80s, before electing to concentrate on his own songs by the turn of the decade - at which time he spent several months playing acoustic sets as a busker in Atlanta. Buckner made his debut for the Texas independent Dejadisc Records in 1994 with Bloomed. Its release was supported by tours along Americas west coast and acclaimed performances at acoustic clubs around his San Francisco Bay Area base. As well as cementing his live popularity, the album alerted the media to Buckners existence, the press categorizing him in the alternative country tradition of artists such as Vic Chesnutt.
