Biography
While bands such as Krisiun, Overdose, the Mist and Eminence have further elevated the Brazilian metal scene since the success of Sepultura, Ratos De Porão (Cellar Rats) has been at the head of a thriving if less well documented punk and hardcore scene for over 20 years. Formed in São Paolo in 1981 by the original nucleus of Jão (João Carlos Molina Estevez, 23 June 1962; vocals/guitar), Jabá (b. Jarbas Alves, 19 July 1963; bass), and Betinho (b. Robert Massetti, 27 August 1966; drums), the bands first recording appeared on the seminal SUB (Suburban Shout) compilation. An appearance at the O Começo Do Fim Do Mundo (The Beginning Of The End Of The World) festival followed before the arrival of João Fat Person Gordo (b.
