Biography
16 May 1968, Boston, Massachusetts, USA. Following the success of Bell Biv DeVoe, Bobby Brown and Johnny Gill, Tresvant became the final former member of New Edition to record a solo album in 1990. Released on MCA Records and featuring moderate swingbeat numbers such as Rated R, Ralph Tresvant did little to remove the impression that this artist was technically the most gifted but least inspired of the band. Even so, the album achieved platinum status and produced a number 1 US single, Sensitivity. Tresvant was also the beneficiary of a song written especially for him by Michael Jackson, Alright Now. A follow-up set featured more traditionally-inclined R&B songs. Though predictably seamless and well-produced, Its Goins Down lacked excitement or attack.
