11 January 1974, New York, USA. Progressive urban R&B vocalist Rahsaan Patterson attracted strong reviews upon the release of his self-titled 1997 debut album. A collection of ballads combining strong melodic and rhythmic elements, critics were impressed both by his sonorous voice and the maturity of the songwriting, earning the singer comparisons to artists such as Maxwell and Eric Bénet. Born in New York but resident in Los Angeles, the ambitious, engaging young artist was keen to state that his lyrics reflected the life he saw around him in urban California. Although Rahsaan Patterson was his first recording, the artist could already boast of considerable experience in the entertainment industry.
