Biography
Heavy metal fans may sense that the B-movie/comic book hero/sci-fi/muscle car world that Powerman 5000 (or PM5K, for short) lives in is quite similar to the same one inhabited by Rob Zombie. There is good reason for this - Powerman 5000s singer, Spider One (Mike Cummings), is Zombies younger brother. Coming from the Boston, Maine area, Spider formed the band in 1990 with Jordan Cohen (percussion), Adam 12 (b. Adam Williams; guitar) and Dorian 27 (b. Dorian Heartsong; bass). Shortly after building a local following and issuing the A Private Little War cassette, the quartet signed on with the independent Curve Of The Earth Records, who issued their 1994 EP True Force. With new drummer Al 3 (b. Allen Pahanish) on board, the fledgling band began to attract the attention of several major labels, Powerman 5000 opted to wait, issuing their full-length debut, The Blood Splat Rating System, a year later.
