Biography

This US southern rap duo was formed in 1997 by childhood friends Tity Boi (Tauheed Epps, USA) and Dolla Boy (b. Earl Conyers, USA) in their native College Park, Georgia. They released a series of underground mixtapes as Playaz Circle and the Duffle Bag Boys, which proved popular on the Atlanta-based crunk scene. The duo’s career was curtailed at the start of the new millennium when Dolla Boy was jailed, and at the same time Tity Boi suffered a near fatal shooting. Redemption came in the shape of Ludacris, who had previously worked with the duo before he became a major star. He signed the duo to this DTP imprint and invited them to record with his Disturbing Tha Peace crew. They appeared on the DTP releases Golden Grain and Ludacris Presents: Disturbing Tha Peace, but had to wait until their underground hit, ‘Duffle Bag Boy’ (a club banger featuring a catchy vocal hook from Lil’ Wayne), broke into the mainstream before their major label album...
