This one-man recording project is the brainchild of Daniel Hunter (16 August 1989, Aledo, Texas, USA). Hunter began recording music while at high school, using conventional instruments and a wide array of digital recording programs to create his emo-tinged electronic pop. His first releases were naturally made available on the MySpace website, with 2007's The Frequency E.P. enjoying particular success on the download charts. Hunter's online presence began to attract the interest of major labels, and by the end of the year he had signed to Island Records. He worked with well-known producers Garret Lee and Lester Mendez on his album debut, Texas, which despite sacrificing some of the lo-fi charm of his home made recordings managed to pack in enough big melodies and stylistic diversity to impress.
