1 January 1952, Springfield, Illinois, USA. This US vocalist has issued recordings both as a member of the 70s soul group the Montclairs, and as a solo artist. Raised in East St. Louis, Illinois, Perry was singing from an early age. He joined the Montclairs in the late 60s, and scored a few moderate hits (‘Make Up For Lost Time’ and ‘Dreamin’ Out Of Season’), before recording a few forgotten albums as part of a duo called Perry And Sanlin. Upon his split with Richard Sanlin, Perry occupied himself with session work in the Los Angeles area, including work with artists such as Lee Ritenour (with whom he has toured extensively), in addition to singing the title theme from the movie, Arthur II: On The Rocks. As a result of his work with Ritenour, Perry was signed by Capitol Records as a solo artist, resulting in the 1991 release, The Heart Of The Man, which spawned a number 1 R&B hit with a cover version of Aretha Franklin’s ‘Call...
