Biography
Philip Roland Baugh, 1937, Olivehurst, California, USA, d. 4 November 1990, Nashville, Tennessee, USA. Little is known of Baughs early life, except that he seemingly became a skilled guitarist as a child and first played with local bands in his area of California. He worked for some years as a truck driver before joining Ray Price in the early 60s. In 1964, he recorded for Longhorn with Vern Stovall in Dallas, and the following year, he gained his only two solo chart entries with his novelty recordings of Country Guitar (number 16) and One Man Band (number 27), on which he very cleverly and effectively imitated various other instruments on his Fender Telecaster. He received instrumental awards from several major publications, such as Billboard and Cash Box.
