Biography
After Lennie Peters (1933, London, England, d. 10 October 1992, Enfield, North London, England) was blinded at the age of 16 in an accident which put paid to his ambitions to become a boxer, he began singing and playing piano in pubs around the Islington area of London. Dianne Lee (b. February 1950, Sheffield, Yorkshire, England) was a dancer with her cousin, working as the Hailey Twins, and after Lennie and Dianne met on a tour of clubs, they decided to form a duo. They achieved some popularity on the club and holiday camp circuit, and subsequently won Hughie Green's top-rated television talent show Opportunity Knocks. Their blend of Tony Bennett and Ray Charles numbers made them one of the most popular winners of the programme, and led to their releasing the country-flavoured "Welcome Home" which topped the UK chart in 1973.
