Biography
Randolph Peter Best, 24 November 1941, Madras, India. A founder member of the Beatles, the luckless drummer was fired from the band on 16 August 1962, prior to their official recording debut. He then joined Lee Curtis And The All-Stars, a unit that became the Pete Best All-Stars on its erstwhile leaders departure. The artist enjoyed a temporary notoriety in the wake of the Beatles success and his band, now known as the Pete Best Four, secured a contract with Decca Records. A perfunctory reading of Im Gonna Knock On Your Door was the acts sole British release on Decca Records, but they pursued a career in the USA and Canada under various guises, including the Pete Best Combo and Best Of The Beatles. Singles appeared on a variety of often-dubious outlets, the most opportunistic of which was their reading of This Boy, a song associated with Ringo Starr.
