Biography
Herb Fame (Herbert Feemster, 1 October 1942, Washington, DC, USA) and Francine Barker (b. Francine Edna Hurd Barker, 28 April 1947, Washington, DC, USA, d. 13 August 2005, Maryland, USA). These two Washington, DC, USA-based singers were signed separately to the same record label, Date, and met on a promotional tour. Producer Dave Kapralik put the couple together, and their easy, if unexceptional, voices took their second single Close Your Eyes into the US Top 10 in 1967. The duo continued to figure in the charts with For Your Love and Love Is Strange(both 1967), United (1968) and When He Touches Me (Nothing Else Matters) (1969). However, although Barker was featured on these records, she had been replaced for live performances by former session singer Marlene Mack (b. Virginia, USA).
