Paulina Rubio Dosamantes, 17 June 1971, Mexico City, Mexico. The daughter of Mexican film and soap opera actress Susana Dosamantes, Rubios music career has followed a similar course to another Latin star of the new millennium, Colombian singer Shakira, with both artists selling huge amounts of records in Latin countries before breaking into the US pop mainstream.
The young Rubio followed her mother around America and Europe on film shoots and enrolled in performing arts school at the age of eight. She first began performing with the highly popular childrens act Timbiriche, appearing alongside another future singer Thalía. Rubio spent most of the 80s as a part of the Timbiriche set up, performing to huge audiences throughout Latin America.
