Biography

Paul Rennee Belobersycky, 21 July 1972, Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Before entering the music world, Paul Brandt, whose parents are both involved in the medical profession, worked as a paediatric nurse. During those years he continued to sing and play the guitar, however, having first sung in church. He began entering talent competitions while in high school but also concentrated on his career in medicine. The change came when he won the $1,000 first prize at the 1992 Calgary Stampede. The following year, he won the category for best original Canadian country song for "Calm Before The Storm", in a contest sponsored by the Canadian performing rights society, SOCAN. He was subsequently signed to Warner Brothers Records in 1995 by the label's vice-president of A&R in Nashville, Paige Levy. Brandt made his debut for the label with the single "My Heart Has A History', which made a strong impression on Billboard"s Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart, and paved the...
