Biography
Paul Norris Bollenback, 6 June 1959, Hinsdale, Illinois, USA. Bollenback began playing a nylon-stringed acoustic guitar at the age of seven. Four years later, he went to live in New Delhi where his father, a classically trained trumpet player, worked for a US organization. During the three years he was in India, Bollenbacks growing interest in music expanded still further to accommodate eastern sounds and forms which he blended thoroughly with his ongoing liking for the blues. On the familys return to the USA, Bollenback graduated to electric guitar and played rock n roll but his future course was established after he heard Miles Davis. In the late 70s and early 80s, he studied music at the University of Miami and privately with Professor Asher Zlotnik. In the early 90s, he was recipient of a grant from the Virginia Commission on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts, which resulted in his composition, New Music For Three...
