Biography

Vivienne Patricia Scialfa, 29 July 1953, Deal, New Jersey, USA. The solo recording career of US singer-songwriter Patti Scialfa has been regularly overshadowed by her status as the wife of Bruce Springsteen and her touring work with his E Street Band.

A former student of the University of Miami and New York University, Scialfa broke into the New Jersey music scene in the late 70s as a session vocalist for acts such as the Brecker Brothers and Southside Johnny And The Asbury Jukes. In 1982, on the strength of a series of demo tapes, she signed a recording contract with Columbia Records and began work on her debut album. Her solo career was put on the back burner when she joined Springsteen and the E Street Band on their wildly successful 1984 tour as a replacement for the laryngitis-stricken Nils Lofgren.
