After touring the USA in 1986, the musicians, Kevin Burke (1950, London, England; fiddle), Andy Irvine (b. 14 June 1942, London, England; guitar, harmonica, mandolin, bouzuki) and Jackie Daly (b. 1946, Kanturk, County Cork, Eire; accordion), returned to Ireland and formed Patrick Street with Arty McGlynn (b. Omagh, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland; guitar).
Before joining Patrick Street Burke played an important role in the Bothy Bands success, and has recorded with Arlo Guthrie and Christy Moore. Irvine, a founder member of both Sweeneys Men and Planxty, has worked with many other leading figures in Irish, Scottish and English folk. Daly first came to international attention when he joined De Dannan. McGlynn started out on the accordion, but switched to the guitar, inspired by the late 50s rock n roll greats.
