2 October 1940, Live Oak Gardens, nr. Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Sky’s folk singing career flourished upon meeting fellow Native American Buffy Sainte-Marie. They toured together for three years, eventually arriving in New York’s Greenwich Village during the early 60s. Sky’s own recordings followed his appearance on Buffy’s early work and one of his songs, ‘Many A Mile’, became the title track to her second album. Sky’s 1965 debut featured both original songs and traditional material, a feature continued on his second collection, A Harvest Of Gentle Clang. Sky was also actively involved in assisting the recently ‘rediscovered’ Mississippi John Hurt and his guitar work can be heard on several of the veteran bluesman’s 60s sessions.
