Biography
This UK progressive rock outfit was formed in Aberdeen, Scotland, in 1975, by Euan Lowson (vocals), Niall Mathewson (guitar), Ronnie Brown (keyboards), Graeme Murray (bass) and Derek Forman (drums). They toured the British club circuit for many years, receiving constant rejections from A&R departments. Undeterred, they decided to self-finance the recording of a demo album. This materialized in 1983 as Arrive Alive, a high-quality collection of melodic songs. The sets modest success led to a contract with EMI Records, the services of Yes producer Eddie Offord, and a large budget to record The Sentinel in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. This was an ambitious and intricate concept album that betrayed the groups Marillion and Yes influences. Lowson left at this juncture, to be replaced by Alan Reed.
