This San Francisco, California, USA-based no wave trio draws direct inspiration from pioneering electronic rock bands such as Neu! and Suicide, and the angular disco punk of the UKs Gang Of Four. The trios roots lay in a previous obscure band, Xerobot, which was where guitarist Dave Broekema and keyboard player Eric Landmark first met (while both were attending the University of Wisconsin). Relocating to San Francisco in 1998, the duo hooked up with vocalist and drummer Indra Dunis soon afterwards, resulting in the formation of Numbers. Signed to the indie label Tigerbeat6, the trio issued their debut, Numbers Life, in 2002. The same year, they issued two split singles with other similarly styled outfits (Lowdown and Erase Errata) and contributed tracks to compilations. A year later, Numbers issued the six-track EP Ee-Uh!, and the remix collections, Death Remixes Vol. 1 and Death Remixes Vol. 2.
