Biography

Despite enlisting numerous special guest players, the core of US blues band North Mississippi Allstars is brothers Luther (guitar) and Cody Dickinson (drums), sons of renowned Memphis musician/producer, Jim Dickinson. Since they were around recording studios all their lives, the duo started appearing on other artists’ recordings while still teenagers, including the Replacements, the New Gospel Choir, Toy Caldwell, Mojo Nixon, and Billy Lee Riley. By the early 90s, the Dickinson brothers had hooked up with bass player Paul ‘Snowflake’ Taylor, forming the punk/thrash rock outfit D.D.T. The trio eventually issued their own CD, Live At The World Famous Antenna Club, and played shows with the Replacements, the Spin Doctors, Jakob Dylan, and Ice-T. They also formed an acoustic side project, Gutbucket, around this time, issuing the Where’s The Man With The Jive? EP in 1996. The trio eventually became known as the D.D.T.
