Biography
Sam Newton Battenberg Deutoronomy Faulkner, 11 January 1985, Surrey, England. Singer-songwriter and guitarist Faulkner enjoyed a breakthrough in summer 2007 with his feel good debut, Hand Built By Robots. Faulkner attended the rock-orientated Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford, Surrey, and after graduation played with the funk rock outfit Half A Guy. Despite a strong local following, Half A Guy had run its course by the time Faulkner launched a solo career in 2004. A self-titled EP was given a limited release as Faulkner built up a cult following with his laidback acoustic pop, which bore certain similarities to the music of hit American singer-songwriter Jack Johnson. A major label contract with Sony BMG Records gave Faulkners career the necessary boost, and by the start of 2007 his music was being playlisted on national radio.
