Sam Newton Battenberg Deutoronomy Faulkner, 11 January 1985, Surrey, England. Singer-songwriter and guitarist Faulkner enjoyed a breakthrough in summer 2007 with his feel good debut, Hand Built By Robots. Faulkner attended the rock-orientated Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford, Surrey, and after graduation played with the funk rock outfit Half A Guy. Despite a strong local following, Half A Guy had run its course by the time Faulkner launched a solo career in 2004. A self-titled EP was given a limited release as Faulkner built up a cult following with his laidback acoustic pop, which bore certain similarities to the music of hit American singer-songwriter Jack Johnson.

A major label contract with Sony BMG Records gave Faulkner’s career the necessary boost, and by the start of 2007 his music was being playlisted on national radio. ‘I Need Something’ and ‘Dream Catch Me’ both proved popular, with the latter...
