Widely regarded as the birthplace of hardcore, Washington, DC, USA has spawned quite a few influential artists over the years, including Minor Threat, Fugazi, Bad Brains, Henry Rollins, as well as countless lesser known ones, such as Nation Of Ulysses. Originally formed during spring 1988, the band originally comprised Ian Svenonius (vocals), Steve Kroner and Tim Green (guitars), Steve Gamboa (bass), and James Canty (drums). The band’s explosive live show and anarchic/politically charged lyrics caused an immediate splash (and served as a blueprint for future acts such as Rage Against The Machine), which resulted in a recording contract with renowned hardcore label Dischord (run by Minor Threat/ Fugazi front man Ian MacKaye). The band managed to remain together for only a few years and two albums, 13-Point Program To Destroy America and Plays Pretty For Baby, before disbanding in 1992.
