Biography

Michael Tyler, New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. Before starting a music career Tyler had a spell in the US army, which included service in the Gulf conflict. Though he would become better known for his association with Master P and his No Limit Records label, Tyler released his debut as Mystikal on the independent Big Boy label in 1995. The record brought him to the attention of Jive Records, who signed the rapper forMind Of Mystikal, an updated version of his debut. An energetic reworking of Dr. Dre’s G-funk blueprint, the album became a surprising underground hit and indirectly led to Mystikal’s association with Master P. His No Limit debut Unpredictable featured the usual role call of label mates, and built on the success of Master P’s chart-topping Ghetto D when it debuted at number 3 in November 1997.
