Biography
Formed in San Francisco, California, USA, in 1971, Muleskinner was a superior bluegrass ensemble originally known as the Bluegrass Dropouts. Commitments to other bands meant they were largely a part-time project although they remained active for two years. Muleskinner featured the talents of Peter Rowan (4 July 1942, Boston, Massachusetts, USA; guitar/lead vocals), Richard Greene (b. 9 November 1945, Beverly Hills, California, USA; violin/bass vocals), both of Seatrain, David Grisman (b. 23 March 1945, Hackensack, New Jersey, USA; mandolin/harmony vocals), Bill Keith (b. William Bradford Keith, 20 December 1939, Boston, Massachusetts, USA; banjo) and Byrds guitarist Clarence White (b. 7 June 1944, Lewiston, Maine, USA, d. 14 July 1973, Palmdale, California, USA).
