Biography

Formed in Detroit, Michigan, USA, Mule amalgamated members from two existing bands from that area, Wig and the Laughing Hyaenas. Preston ‘PW’ Long (guitar/vocals), Kevin Munro (bass) and James Kimball (drums) set out on the familiar budget touring route prior to the release of their self-titled debut album for Quarterstick Records in 1991. Garnering critical acclaim for its ferocious, skewed rock ‘n’ roll, particularly in the small press, it was followed by an EP, Wrong, and touring engagements with Unsane and Neurosis. Their second album, If I Don’t Six, featured new drummer Jake Wilson, and was released in the summer of 1994. However, touring plans were aborted when Munro was bitten by a water moccasin snake while walking through the Louisiana grasslands.
