Although former construction worker Willem Duyn aka Big Mouth (31 March 1937, the Netherlands, d. 4 December 2004) was a rock n roll exponent who had previously worked with the band Speedway, he teamed up with classically-trained vocalist Sjoukje Vant Spiijker aka Maggie MacNeal (b. 5 May 1950, Krabbendam, the Netherlands) in 1971 after she heard a tape he made at Amsterdams Phonogram studio. Recording a debut single, Hey, You Love, in English, the pair anticipated the US million-seller, 1972s How Do You Do? (composed by Hans van Hemert and Harry van Hoff), when it was issued in North America, following chart triumphs in Austria and the Netherlands. As this overseas breakthrough could not be sustained, the duo concentrated on the European market, touring constantly both before and after their second - and last - international smash with Ik Zie Een Ster aka I See A...
