This south London, England-based R&B vocal trio comprised Su-Elise Nash (22 May 1981, Dulwich, London, England), Sabrina Washington (b. 27 October 1978, Harlesden, London, England) and Alesha Anjanette Dixon (b. 7 October 1978, Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, England). The three women met in south west London in 1998, with Washington and Dixon sharing a keen interest in dance and choreography, poaching Nash to be their lead vocalist. A fourth member, Zena McNally, left the group soon after their breakthrough, the hit single ‘Why?’, an innovative crossbreed of R&B and clipped garage beats that established them as the leading female group in the UK garage genre. Much credit for the single remix that the trio used went to Matt ‘Jam’ Lamont, who inserted the faster music.
