Biography
Leland Michael Postil, 29 September 1945, San Fernando, California, USA. This writer, arranger and producer is known mainly for his music for television. His career began in the early 60s as a guitarist and session musician. He moved to production work in 1967, making his debut with the first album by the First Edition, featuring Kenny Rogers. Post went on to produce Mason Williams and Classical Gas which earned him his first Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Arrangement. In 1969 he became musical director of Andy Williams popular television show, but he really began to make his name along with his partner Pete Carpenter, writing numerous complete telefilm scores, and some of the most memorable television theme songs of the last 30 years, for programmes such as The Rockford Files, The A-Team, Magnum P.I., Hill Street Blues (featuring Larry Carlton, two Grammys), and L.A.
