Biography

Michael Gordon, 3 June 1965, Sudbury, Massachusetts, USA. Multi-instrumentalist Gordon is best known for his work with the US rock band Phish, a unit that enjoyed major critical success and attracted a devoted following in a career that ran from the mid-80s until 2004. Gordon’s main instrument during his time with Phish was the bass, although he also played piano, guitar, harmonica and percussion. His vocal and writing contributions were secondary to those of guitarist/lead vocalist Trey Anastasio but provided many notable highlights during the band’s career. He also published a book of quirky short stories in 1997, Mike’s Corner, and displayed his talents as a filmmaker with the Phish documentary Tracking (1994), the full-length feature Outside Out (2000) and the Allen Woody (Gov’t Mule) documentary Rising Low (2002).
